Aiwa HP-X1000 💎💎 - minus Mica-composite domes 🛠️
The entire Mica-Composite dome of both drivers lost total adhesion to diaphragms and thus went from 'engineering feature' to 'debris'.
• Headphones became useless - lots of buzzing was caused by the loose domes.
There was simply no way to adhere these domes back to the diaphragms without nano-bots.
Also it was far too risky to remove the front metal acoustic lens as this is likely adhered to the diaphragm and would also tear the voice coil.
I opted for a surgical removal of the mica domes using needle tweezers (scroll down for video) which took far longer than I expected, but was certainly worth the effort.
They now sound and measure far better than they did originally.
Nice 'harmon target' tuning... might give AKG K361 a run for it's money?
